Tree Planting at Torbay Beach

We invite you to our Tree Planting event this Saturday at Torbay Beach!

The event is family-friendly and free of charge.

Register through the Google Form.

Our team will provide shovels, knee pads, trees, shrubs, and light snacks. Please bring weather-appropriate clothing, sturdy footwear, sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle.

Through using nature-based solutions, our native species planting efforts will fortify the trail network against erosion from stormwater runoff, riparian flooding, and increase coastal zone resilience against wave action. This includes planting many native edibles such as Chuckley Pear and Low-bush Blueberry.

Planting will be located within the boundaries of the Town of Torbay’s municipal Shoreline Conservation Area Management Unit, inclusive of the Island Pond Brook Trail Network and sections of the East Coast Trail. This event is funded by Tree Canada and supported by Town of Torbay, the East Coast Trail Association, and the Stewardship Association of Municipalities NL!
